What are the benefits of mounting it further fwd? I just checked if I have the avaliable real estate to mount it fwd and it's a no go. Should I mount it higher up?

Sorry, I did not make it clear: I approve of putting the snorkel mechanism under the bridge as you have it. Plenty of room. And congratulations on the nice clean cut job on the hull.

I think I am jealous! Great hull cut.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Its not perfect! But I have a place to start. Could have been cleaner if I took my time a bit more. The blade tended to overheat causing slag to build up making it wider in some areas. I'm gonna work tonight on cleaning up the kerf slag and glueing in the zipper tabs to get a good idea of how much filler I will need.

The indexing tabs get in the way -- make up the lost kerf now, the task will be much easier without having to dodge the knife, file, and sanding blocks as your restore a flat to the edges. Add the indexing tabs only after you have a tight, even break between the assembled upper and lower hull pieces.

Kerf is so minimal, there are a few spots I'll need a bit of glassing putty. However I'm gonna try and fill them with styrene first as to use as little as possible.

its starting to look like something!!!
