As I see my responsibility at this point:

    1. size and outfit working, SubDriver's for you and me (how about Bernie, is he into r/c?) for the STINGRAY
    2. work out a quick hull de-watering sub-system employing the PJ suction side
    3. develop a practical two-axis gimbaled nozzle to work within the confines of the Ratemaster
    4. work up a multi-media fittings kit for the interior and exterior (where required)

I look forward to watching you work your magic.

Oh the Pic of the hulls in the mould are yours David.

    Oh, man! Can't wait!

Love how you incorporated the aileron (that's what I'll call them) bell-cranks in with the mounting hardware of the PJ base. You think like a watch-maker Moti (see: The Mote In God's eye); you incorporate several functions in a single item -- solid, intuitive engineering. They don't teach that **** in school!

And having a dedicated linkage for each aileron means we can work them through a V-tail mixer: differentially for roll, collectively for fine depth control. As these things are so close to the vehicles CG their pitching component will me so small as to not matter. They will work great at fine depth control (I've done this with a 1/16 KAIRYU model). We'll be able to cruise submerged, at reasonable speed and hold periscope depth without too much work.

Here's how I see the r/c system arranged on your STINGRAY:

    ch-1 roll (differential aileron)
ch-2 fine depth control (collective aileron)
    ch-3 throttle
    ch-4 nozzle yaw axis (rudder)
    ch-5 ballast sub-system
ch-6 nozzle pitch axis (course depth change)

We mix ch-1 and ch-2 with a V-tail mixer off the receiver. Also, if the boat is too squirrely in pitch we may swap ch-2 and ch-6.

I also found this on my travels, a member of my forum noticed that the Stingray control steering wheels came from the Deluxe Reading Playmobile Dashboard toy made in the 1960's. Rare and difficult to find here in the UK but easier in the USA. Look at the control bank behind Marina and you will see a cut up version of the toy acting as equipment, nothing was wasted at Century21 Studios... LOL

I had one of these and the Reading car too. The car came with a spare and a flat tire you could change and also was remote control. Those were the days.
