Revision Marder scale 1:35

It has been some time since my last post on the Seehund, did some work on the Marder, it wasn't running anymore, so i took it apart to see what has happened,


Took her apart, batteries where shot, as the little e motors, in the background you can see the some bigger replacing motors.


Those motors where corroded solid, there was no seal at the shafts, have to change that.


First i took off all fins and rudder components, the back-ends had to be modified on the lathe.


This hole was the size of the old motor, had to work it up to a bigger size.


The bigger size hole, the new motors will fitt snugly inside the hole.



Just had to press in the motor, it is friction fitt.


Talking about motors, this is the new idea, use a little O-ring to seal off the shaft.


The new layout, with a extension of the shaft, this is done this way to get me the correct measurements, i will end up with a small flexible coupling for the motor to the shaft.

Sealed of both motors with RTV dispite i use O-rings, i just want to be sure.



Sealed the charging point at the front of the lower torpedo, i can charge the Marder by un-screwing the T bolt at the upper and little prop at the lower one


Glued down the contact-tubes at the upper tube, the toy print inside doesn't work anymore, so she will be a free runner, i was not able to get my hands on those small micro boats, maybe in the future.

The Marder is ready for some testing, found a solution for transporting my microfleet, finished up the torps of the Ko Hyoteki,



Placed back all fins and did some work on the controlling rods



Sealed the Marder with RTV, ready to take the plunge.



Since it will be a free runner for now, you can start it with this plug, it's secured by i little piece of line.



Filled the litterbox with water and did some duration testing to see if she is watertight, last step was slapping some paint on her to finish the rebuild.



Did some wheatering on the torpedo's of the Ko Hyoteki, not too much just enough.



Now the problem with transporting the micro fleet, had this case standing on the attic, size OK, more than high enough to get me some room.



Took some styrodure plate and cutted it to fit inside the case, outlined the Seehund and made some cuts in the styrodure, same procedure for the torps.



Because the case was high enough i could do the trick again with both Bibers and the Marder, this way i have a protected case in which i can transport the fleet safely, i did put the boats upside down in the case because you have to carry it with all the boats resting on their keels.



Next week i'm going to attack the V80, batteries are becoming bad, and i have some idea's for upgrading her, i'll be back with the progress.
