Thanks Dave. I actually painted parts of the figure with a matt varnish but the Vallejo matt varnish is not as flat as I'd like it to be. Skin covered with a silk clear coat.

Hit that dude with a black wash followed by a very, very flat clear coat followed by a bit of dry-brushing and he'll 'pop'.



(Damn!... should have taken my own advice and given this guy a flat clear-coat!)

Oh... and good work on that cut-away, Doctor.

Mission accomplished....painted the boat and applied some weathering. The boats were out of the water most of the time, so I kept it subtle. I printed the stands and made one strut hollow to run the cables for the LEDs to the base plate. The torpedo is a standard job...I did so many lately. To give a size comparison, I added a 1:35 scale figure I originally had bought for the XXIII.













And it found ts place next to my couch....

I'd share if I'd know people who would care to put a boat in a museum. I#m not very social, so I have no networks here in Germany to museums or veteran submariners.

With respect to this boat: It looks nice, but quite frankly it hast ist flaws that at least for me render it not suitable for a museum.

Had to climb over the front seat...a nightmare if you have to get out. That's why so many of the crews wre lost. Quick sinking traps....

After the glue dried, I cleaned the seams, closed gaps with putty and sanded everything smoot and into shape. Then I added the few remaining parts on the outer hull. Quick fix...Then I masked the openings with tape and the clear dome with Vallejo masking medium. Finally -> Primer on.

Progress on my 1:35 scale midget submarine Hecht with interior. Printed and glued the starboard frames and regulating tank into the inside of the hull. Then added the trim weight, bilge pump, and gyro compass cooler. Painted all with flat white and neutral gray (Vallejo) and gave it a weathering job with filters and washes. Finally the two micro LEDs were installed, wired, and connected to the constant current source in the nos. The port side of the hull got it's finishing touches with the installation of the periscope and the starboard pulleys for the trim weights.









After all this, it was finally time to join the two hull halves.



And then, of course, the firts lighting test.....nice!

Worked allot in the interior. Most of the central and port side equipment is in. I also added the wire linkages to the trim weights and the rudder. Next were the seats, gauges, valves and tubes. I like it. To get an impression of the finished boat, I also cut the view ports in the starboard hull.....I like it!
