Yup, those are exactly the motors I used on another boat. For my Lotus I'll be using something very similar to these. They are excellent, simple, reliable, just turn on and off, no fuzzing around.

Not much to report yet as I'm still sourcing parts. I did get all all the pump area printed and will do appendages when things warm up.
Looking for 2 of the old school brass bulkhead seals for 1/8" shafts. Let me know if you have a "pair to spare".

Putting some time in the 1:6 Delfin and hoping to have a running example by Subfest 2024. Going with dynamic diving, pressure box and a wet outrunner behind it. Stern planes and rudder for control with the possibility of "elevons" for a bit of bank. More to come as I start to slice up and join the hull halves. Model finish will be with the periscope and high viz test markings.

            Darrin,
Great to see you back at it!
            Peace,
            Tom
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

As I get the big Lotus ready for Subfest, I'm looking for a new subject to CAD and print. The goal is a dynamic diver utilizing the same sized S3 box and the smallest possible size. Here are some candidates.

The little Russian M1 triton would be fun, you could also look at the Polish Blotniak, which looks derived from the Triton.

Working on the mini Delfin that Bob and I developed together. Going with a set of Dave’s end caps and some old Subtech seals. Nice sized model with plenty of room for gear. The tail is a bit tight for me but we are getting there, appendages are styrene sheet with brass hinge work. Hoping to have this and the Lotus running at Subfest.

                        Work continues on the Delfin.
Finished up all the linkages and connections to the cylinder and the hatch hold down consists of sliding pins.
Cockpit details, bow planes and some trimming are next.
WTC is nice and dry and the initial trim did not need any foam in the tail to keep it from sinking.

Float tests were good. I added 2.5 oz of lead shot to the nose section. The remaining trim is just some weights in the center portion of the hull.

The pilot figure and the hemisphere are now permanently mounted. He has real fabric for his jacket and there are some small details inside.

I also finished the superglue welds to mask the hatch a bit. Paint will be middle next week.

Still wondering if the control surfaces are going to be sufficient.

Cover his puss with a Dragere type mask. Love the weld lines. Finish that thing!

What about the centre of buoyancy shifting once the sealed up dome goes under? The 1:1 versions had a small ballast tank under the skipper to compensate. Perhaps vent the dome.
