    The Trumpeter/Merriman/Caswell Kilo in 1:144

This is a nice build, off to a good start. For anybody who follows the link above, the site is in French. If you use Google's Chrome web browser, it will offer to translate the site and the translation is pretty good. For those who don't care about reading, the photos are pretty good.

I'm starting my own build of the Trumpeter 1:144 Kilo this weekend, but have been preparing to do so for a while. That means I'm still asking a lot of questions so I do my best to get this right.

Looks like the hull flooding vents will flow a lot of water, which is good for operations. Many of the holes you've put in are on the centerline where the hull halves join. Please keep us posted if that causes any problems with the hull, such as splitting or a loss of strength.

It doesn't look like you've installed anything to restrain the SubDriver from moving. I think David put in eye-hooks and used a rubber band to keep the SubDriver firmly attached to the lower hull. I'm going to try to do something with Velcro.

Don't miss the chance to review David Merriman's Cabal reports here: http://support.caswellplating.com/in...o-cabal-report
These are all good, but at the point you're at in your build, the last one, with its tips on painting, is going to be very helpful.

Thanks for sharing your build with us.

      Hi Outrider,

I'll would be happy to see your Kilo build.
      - The holes on the hull centerline do not cause any problem with the hull as far as I can see.

My own build is going a little bit forwards this week.
      - WTC installation in the hull
      - Chandlery assembly on the upper hull
      - Antennas & radars built in brass

Beautiful build Pablo. Did you use stock periscopes/mast or did you make new ones?
Make it simple, make strong, make it work!

Plastic stock periscopes/masts/radars were too fragile for a sailing model. I rebuilt them in brass :

              Hi everybody!
Last Sunday a sub regatta held in Vibraye (not far from Le Mans)
Weather was not very fine but we still have some fun sailing our subs
The Kilo had a nice sail too, scroll down to the bottom to see Kilo pics :
