    DeBoer 1/48th 688 class

While at Subfest I picked up from Bob a partially finished DeBoer 1/48th Los Angeles class hull.

I am very excited about this build as a Winter project and hope to have it running for Subfest 2021. My first order of business was a reasonably proper "wheel" for it. Not knowing exact specs. for one I reached out to those who would most likely know. Thanks to David Merriman for providing some very detailed information. This past weekend I was able to make it to Dalton, GA to play shop with my buddy Darrell Sprayberry and thanks to his machining skills we managed to make a 5-3/4", all brass, 9.2 oz. Behemoth prop for it. Here are a few shots of it. I still need to finish the edges and polish it up but overall I think it turned out good.

Wow, that is a beautiful prop. Kudos to you.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Back in the day I built all the appendage masters and scribed the hull master for Dennis. Yup, did the wheel too.

I hope to see her as well as Mr. Schroeder's at Cahutta next September.

Have you chosen her prototype, or are you just going with "DeBoer 1/48th 688 class"??

My USS KEY WEST SSN-722 will be there, even if that's her ALPHA Trials.

Three 1:48 688's on a mooring would be an incredible site.

I just made the mooring which will hold three boats hoping for this, just need to make up camel's to go between the boats.

                Back on it this weekend.

It WILL join the fleet at Cahutta. I'm hope George has his oversized one there as well. That pond will be full of fish.

Now you need to get the patch for your club vest or jacket....

Funny...I wish I had a club to be involved with. I love the Kraken artwork you have embroidered on your coat or vest. Very cool.

This is as decked out as I get! That's my 'crew' hat from the Red October production. That's as close to a uniform I wear these days. I've had more than my fill of regimentation in my life... thank you very much.

Ellie, by default she just exceeds "Elvis Cool" and ranks as "Uber cool"
