Boxers are great! So much energy. That little pig is Jack. He is my 2 year old lab / pointer mix. There is also some little-dog in there too, but he is my buddy, and a very good boy. I lucked out for sure!

Final update (for a while, anyway)

CARTER made her first trip to the lake, and had her first honest to god voyage in big water. It was a perfect flight, in all respects. The boat functioned exactly as designed. I would estimate the underwater turning radius at speed to be approximately 30 feet. She dove and came back up, and both the forward and aft sections of the SD came out of the water bone dry. It was a good day.

The face of a proud papa after pulling her from the lake.

Fair winds and following seas, gents. Cheers.

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - 7 Feb. 2019 - USS JIMMY CARTER quietly slipped off her moorings this afternoon and headed out for another sea trial. Overall reports are positive. As expected, turning performance in the confines of the swimming pool was poor. The boat maintained full functionality throughout the voyage. There continues to be a small ingestion of water into the forward dry space, despite earlier work and testing to mitigate that issue. I could be wrong, but I might have just needed to whack the float valve loose before putting it in the pool. Overall, SSN-23 performed admirably. The next evolution will be to venture out into truly deep water.

Once again, I thank you all for your help and assistance with this - my first ,real, honest-to-god, start to finish sub project. It has been an incredible learning experience, and I am humbled just to be here in such esteemed company. Onward and upward. Semper Optima.

    Cheers, gentlemen.

I see your testing with a syringe. I'm guessing that a successful test, pushing water in from the bottom, will result in no flow through the top nipple? I tried it a different way by attaching a tube to the top nipple and sucking both air and water through it. With the air, I heard just a tiny hiss, which is what started me on my current hypothesis.

Thank you, as always, o' great keeper of knowledge. Stay tuned.
