Thanks Mate. Bashing away again today. The lower hull is finished but there is a lot more to do on the upper half and the sail.

The hull gap is much better now and I have fitted the anchor and rescribed the forward torpedo outer doors.

Spent this afternoon mating the top to the bottom. There is a flange along the rim of the bottom hull that positions the upper part. All seems to fit quite well so far. There are a few areas needing a bit of filler and sanding into shape.


I also fitted the stern planes.

Hi Mate. Good to see you back here. The props are awsome. They appear to be CnC cut from a single block of brass. They are made by RC Subworks in HK. I was looking for a five bladed prop with the vortex disrupter on the back for the Delta when I came upon this photograph:


So I thought, why not?

Meanwhile back in the shed; I have fitted the control horns and rods for the rear planes and rudder.



Fitted the prop shafts;


Completed the 'Z' cut;


And added the flanges to each side of the lower hull.



It still looks very rough but I'm confident that it will scrub up OK.

Fitting the stern planes and the rudder today. These props are temporary; the real ones are three bladed and slightly larger.



Meanwhile... Tim's Delta has its propellors, and they look mighty fine!

Thanks Dave. I've been plugging away with the Zulu mould. I tried a new kind of silicon that Barnes make that is supposed to be good for retaining detail. Unfortunately its also really runny and managed to insinuate itself into the top mould and comprehensively bugger it. So I made a new one today. The lower hull halves are not bad and I'm hoping that the new upper half will be as good.






The Delta was made by Tim Cobb. Its ENORMUS. I've been playing around with it while the Zulu bits dry/cure/bake/print etc etc.

Fantastic work . Nice pull from the bottom hull mould! I wish my last lower hull pull was that clean. That Delta looks nice, I'm not familiar with that kit. Looks like you can add a lot of detail. Looking forward to seeing your two boats. Would love to see more pics of the these two boats.

First shot out of the lower hull mould today. Looks nice!



And meanwhile .......

I'm trying a new system with this mould. The splitter board is in two parts - left and right sides. The top mould is now complete so I have flipped the whole thing over and undone the screws that hold it together.

Once its unscrewed the two bits of the splitter are removed:


After some cleaning up the sides of the mould are screwed back on;


Then the gloop that will form the bottom mould is poured in.

The top mould box is finished and I have done the first layer of gloop. I have also run out of gloop so more is on the way.





So, meanwhile I have been playing with this.....



And using a jig to drill straight holes in curved surfaces.
