Mike Caswell has asked me to help out by posting some pics of my working Gato doors so you guys can have a go, I've posted it here as I guess its a gizmo and, what the hell, I might win a chocolate teapot.
I cut the doors out carefully using a razor saw and scalpel blade to keep the cut as thin as possible, but to make up the loss of material I built the doors back up to size with plastic card.
The hinges are again just plastic card from the scrap box and a simple wire hinge pin that I can pull out if I need to remove the doors.
The actuator is a simple scissor action with a push pull that can connect to a servo or whatever.
I used 14ba screws to hold the lot together but if you have fingers like bananas forget it! its a ***** to put together ---- you WILL need eyeglass and tweezers (no one said it would be easy) Editor's note 14BA = Fine English Thread
I have included a couple of pics of my folding vanes too, again mostly made from scrap plastic card and a few plastic gears. I am sure that if there is enough interest David Merriman would do a kit of parts, if so you can have this one David with my compliments (as long as I get my chocolate tea pot)
