A trademark of my builds is the ballast tank vent tube. This is a brass round tube that I install right above the ballast tank vent to direct the expelled air or gases out of the ballast tank to help to keep from adding to the problem of air building up under the superstructure and hindering a dive. Its important to have the pipe right down against the ballast vent in order to properly contain it.

That helps draw heat away from the motors. In addition to that I purchased some copper pipe close to the size of the motors and after cutting it length ways slid it onto the motors. Works pretty good. This will do in the interum as I mull over in my mind the choices I have for repowering it. The full build on this sub with all the details can be found on the Subcommittee website under builders threads. Click on Rick Teskey Seaview.

The 3" WTC that I use came with Speed 400 motors made for 7.2 volts. So after some experimentation I changed them to the 12 volt long can version of the motor. However the motors do get hot. I thought about trying to de-pitch the impellors but instead tried using heat sinks. The motor mount is some kind of plastic that works real well unless your motors get hot so I had one made out of aluminum.

I must be honest here and say I was never a fan of fantasy models but this is really a superb bit of kit, well done chap.

Here are some pics of a photo shoot I did in my pool at night early on in the build.
And another at a different angle with the boat surfaced.

One challenge I did face was trying to get the sub to float as high as possible in the water with with very little room to install floatation foam. You have to use every available nook and crany. You can see the WTC installed here with the drive shafts hooked up.
And here is a view of the same wtc from the front.

In addition to this I use a 9 channel radio and 2 motor electronic speed control for independent thrust control. Operation at night is a sight to behold as it is equipped with 1 bright headlight in the front and lights that shine through the windows as well as navigation lights and lights shining rearward out of the Cadillac fins. Here is a video of it in operation.

Here is another shot looking back over the missle deck. On that note the missle hatches are stainless steel washers with the holes filled in with epoxy.
And here we have a view from the sail showing periscope and radar antenna.
