Something new out of the printer - a UB-1

Finally got my UB-1 in 1/30 scale fully printed. Final material is ASA, printed on an Ender 6. 100% fill. I had to replace the filament drive with a MicroSwiss direct drive, which totally changed the machine's performance for the better. It is far more reliable and easier to reload now.

Even with the direct drive upgrade, this print took a couple tries to work out. The biggest issues were the temp settings for the Ender, printing order (e.g. concentric fill vs line), and supports. There are some supports in the STL files, but not enough to prevent stringing in the prints on overhangs. For example, the coupling rings between hull sections. The printing order was critical in preventing warping at the base. Hairspray also helped with that.

I have a WTC on the way. Radio will be a 915 MHz.

I just need the time to get this build going, along with another I have. Hopefully I will have some new boats in the water once this place thaws out in the spring.
