North Korean Torpedo sank ship

Will be interesting to hear what the independent investigation has to say. There are a lot of possibilities, some not so nefarious, such as a mine, to go along with the obvious "the Commies shot them" answer. Another thing that may have happened is an accidental weapons release. This happened on MED 2-92 when the Saratoga's Point Defense Missiles were unleashed on the bridge of the Muavenet, a Turkish destroyer steaming in company. Sometimes, things can go very wrong at sea.
Update: Haven't read the report yet, but the news says the investigators said "torpedo" and that they've recovered evidence consistent with a DPRK torpedo captured by the South Koreans. Since the North denies all and is among the most opaque regimes in the world, we may not ever find out much more.Last edited by Outrider; 05-20-2010, 10:59 AM.Comment
