Here is a solution looking for a problem. Super glue strips that are used as tape. This is a link from a local TV station "consumer" reporter and she says it works well, with weight limitations.

Looks like a variant of double-sided adhesive tape. Some utility to it, I suppose.

I get that impression. May have more adhesion to it, although they did emphasize that it was weight limited. Thier test application involved heavy things, stuck to walls.
