Examination of the kits injection formed plastic 'searchlight guard' revealed it to be composed of two 'U' shaped pieces girdled by a singe 'hoop' shaped shape. To be practical, this structure had to be much stronger than styrene, so I manufactured a brass searchlight guard from .030" brass rod. Here you see a slab of RenShape used as a simple assembly jig used to hold the 'U' shaped pieces as the 'hoop' was positioned over them and soldered in place. Nothing to it!

The brass searchlight guard test fitted to the bow of the SEAVIEW.

Bring on the moored mine, I'm ready for ya!

It's my practice to make more than one item. The first efforts are seldom better than the later efforts. This way I get to pick the best of the litter.
