thinning my fleet - Type VII and Type XXI for sale

I'm going to concentrate efforts on getting my 2 Type XXIIIs done (Bronco and OTW), so I'm gauging interest on the sale of two other boats that I have.

One is a 1/48 scale Type XXI hull from Matt Thor, with conning tower and other kit bits from Doug Badgely's original. This kit is not started. Asking $200 for this kit; shipping to be determined.

The other is OTW/Bob Dimmack's Type VII kit. Conning tower has long been completed, the rest of the hull is partially done. I have tons of the bits and pieces that come with the kit including the running gear, extra guns, fittings, etc. The conning tower is the fiberglass one; the metal version is unbuilt. Asking $800 for this kit, with shipping to be determined.

I don't have current pics, but I can take some and post if requested. Models are located in Richmond VA area, and I have no bloody idea what it would cost to ship the Type VII. I can check with a carrier on a box for the XXI.

If someone is interested that is somewhat local, we can talk about meeting to do the sale.

PM me for questions, or leave a note in the thread...

    Sam

I also have a full basement, with more to come it seems.

Seriously, I thought our readers would like to actually see what is on offer. These both sound like great boats.

                Thanks David.
I'll be turning some of the sale of these kits into the compenents I need to complete the Type XXIII.

Where are the photos? I'm seeing nothing.

Never mind - now there are photos - don't understand why I could not see them before.

Duh! (your type-23 SD goes off to Caswell tomorrow, pal).

I assume the "duh" remark was aimed at me. So, is the SAS SD intended for 1/96 models identical to the type-23 SAS SD? To be clear on this, I'm after the 1/96 SAS SD with these specs (from the Caswell sales page)

                      • 2.5" diameter, 20.25" long, 1/16" wall thick, machined Lexan SD cylinder
                      • Ballast water weight -- 14 ounces, enough to raise any of the above mentioned model submarine hulls to their designed waterline
                      • LPB-MPC, ballast sub-system servo, safety float-valve, and all SAS plumbing made up and tested
                      • Snorkel head-valve assembly ready for installation within the upper hull or sail
                      • One 12-volt brushed 380 size motor, sparked suppressed, made up to a 3:1 drive-train
                      • Sub-driver ballast tank after bulkhead has foundation and the Lexan cylinder is machined to receive gas ballast-sub system retro-fit kit elements.
                      • Without any degradation of the SAS ballast sub-system, a gas type ballast sub-system can be retro-fitted to the system should you desire it as a back-up to insure recovery of the model when operating in deep water.

So, that's the one I'll be receiving - right? I specifically do NOT want the shortened SAS SD I hear about (only holds a smaller battery) - the one intended for later torpedo use.

You're getting the SD listed in the catalog. Yup, all the above features. Not the 'short' one for the torpedo shooting Type-23. Goes out today.

                          The Type XXI is sold.
THe Type VII is still available. I have a deal pending for the finished tower, so the TYpe VII will include an unbuilt tower with all the detail bits.
