Maximum operational depth for Caswell/Merriman seals

    Sirs,

I realize that your recommendation for maximum operating depth for a R/C sub is probably in the range of 3 feet but in case one needed to go deeper, say in the case of an ROV, have you ever established a maximum recommended depth for the Caswell/Merriman seals part numbers DES00(1 through 4)?

How much deeper, you ask ... not sure, let's say 30 feet.

    Dan,

I've taken a few sample SD's to a hard vacuum in the shop without a significant drop in twelve-hours. That's a differential pressure close to thirty-three feet of fresh water. So, the cylinder, bulkheads, and seals are good to that point. Deeper? I duno. Let me know. Rotsa Ruck!

      David,

      Thank you.

33 feet is more than enough - I hope.
