    Ships, Rick L.

Okay, I took some quick pics of one of my favorites.
Sorry about the poor lighting, but Mike wanted pictures Now. :D LOL
This model is 48" long. It has on-board video camera/xmitter, tape-player with dixieland music, steam-whistle circuit, and smoke-generators.
Single gear-motor with belt-drive to paddlewheel.
    Scratch-built, Stern-wheeler River-boat:
I've had a great deal of fun with this one, everyone likes the dixieland music. :)
(Those stains on the bow, in last pic, are actual lake water stains, not painted on.)

WOW! You are off the hook! That's no target, the river is probably too shallow for a submarine!

I'd love to see a live video of that boat - with the music, of course!

    Nice job Rick!
Stop messing about - just get a Sub-driver!

Thanks, I'll do some more later.
I have a very unusual ship I'll do pics of tomorrow.

This is one of my more unusual ships.
            A scratch-built 15th century Lateen rigged Galley:
54" long, including it's dangerous looking battering-ram on bow.
I never had anyone get in my way when they saw the bow weapon. :D
It's main feature is that it's propulsion is by 36 Oars.
They are all linked to a single gear-motor and the assembly is mounted on a bearing-slide-table, mounted over keel. The slide assembly is also the ballast-weight.
The oars are designed to move in a flat oval motion, to eliminate the up/down bounce caused by oars that move in a circular motion.
It moves surprising fast with the motor running at a slow realistic speed.
In last pic you can see the rounded butt-cheeks shaped stern on each side of the scimitar shaped rudder.

It doesn't look that dusty in person, I guess I need to clean it. :D

I was cleaning one of my ships and took some pictures. This is a Amerigo-Vespucci display kit that I converted to RC. It is a model of the Italian training ship still in service today.
Building the boats on her deck took almost as much time to build as the ship did.
The complete deck and upper part of hull lifts off for access to electronics. It has a camera/transmitter mounted in aft bridge that looks out over starboard deck.

Rick! Wonderful models, lets see some video of them in the water! I want to see if they float! :)

Sorry, the video-cameras we have only do Film. I don't know if you Remember that stuff or not but it's very difficult to get into a computer. :D LOL
Anyway, until my hand gets better I won't be taking those delicate and heavy models to the lake. :(
A sub I can launch and retrieve with one hand but not those.
I will take more still pics of some of my models tho. Most of which were built when digital-cameras had not been invented yet. ;)
