Here is my 6ft mtb. very cool design. I saw a video once of a torpedo being launched. very scary. the torp chased the boat. looking forward to getting it done soon. one thing slowing me down. Rivets! I am sick of them. looks cool tho. my friend in Poland made my hardware. he is a master modeler!! craig

Nice, what scale is this? i see that Models By Design have this hull on their website, at 1/25. I wodnered what it would look like with superstructure. I tried googling it but came up with nothing. looks like could make for a fun fast scale boatLast edited by Albion; 12-19-2010, 05:41 AM.Next time someone points out it takes 42 muscles to frown, point out it will only take 4 muscles to b1tch slap them if they tell you how mnay muscles you need to smile:pop -
That is one sweet build & I am sure you're happy to see that last rivet go in.
As was posted in other forums, Loyalhanna was to develop a 1:16 or larger G5 but that project seems to have been shelved. If anyone here would be interested in doing a unique kit, this one would get my vote with an order to follow.Comment

Hello Herrmill
it has been a very long project do to rivets. but it will get wet this spring. I hear you have a nice websight on U-boats. could I get the web address to check it out. I am sure you have seen the U-111 plans in the works. she is a beaut!! I also ran across this torpedo boat this weekend. it was used to replace the G-5. they are so cool. there is good info as well. I am always looking for unique stuff to build. enjoy. drop me a line is you get a chance. all the best Craig

Hi Gantu
it is fun to research these boats. Uri has the best info on the G-5. it would be cool to look at an accurate set of plans. I did build mine with the armada plans. there full of bugs!! nothing matched in the stern. but I worked my magic and built myself an awesome model. there is a paper model out of the G-5 that looks really good. how accurate is it? we should get Uri to chime in on the info that is out there. this might help future builders. I would never attempt to build this again. Rivets Suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!Comment

A very neat and detailed model. I have to ask the obvious question: are you going to develop a torpedo and will it be practical? Keep up the good work and the wonderful build thread. Do you have any detail shots of how you plotted rivet position and how you applied them?

Hi Dave
I am talking with my friends in Poland to work up a torpedo launch system & working torpedo. the ram could be rubber band powered to vary the speed which shoves the torp out the back. then getting the speed on the torp right so I can out run it?? Uri has a video of a real launch. OMG!! had to laugh watching this. Uri you have to post this please? as for Rivets before I primed it I drew it all out on the hull. trust me it is far from perfect. I have a bad case of AMS ( advance modeler syndrome!!) when I look at My G-5 all I see are my mistakes. she is a Beaut tho. the other Russian torpedo boat is really catching my eye. I know I will build one. CraigComment

Hi Gantu
I keep hearing of a kit coming out. that should fill a void for Russian boats. I have no interest in trying to please the masses!! I do this to amuse myself. I am damn good at this to. you should see my workshop. boxes of plans. so for anyone who plans to build this boat you need to gather all the info you can. it is out there. CraigComment

Hi Guys
U-111 plans are done. but not for sale just yet. for all the guy's that helped me on them they get them first. it will be late summer before I will unveil them. I am also building this one before the ub88. it was really cool to find the info and draw it up. the G-5 is first. she is a beaut. CraigComment
