making up the snort and mpc

    David:

I solder the MPC (mini pump controller) to the mini snort pump. That's clearly shown in the instructions. In the pump bag there was some hard as nails black tubing that I'll attack with a hot nail to get it on the snort pump.

Closely studying my type VII S/D I'm stuck. I see the two brass tubes in the motor end (business in) of the S/D. I'll assume that one is for collecting air from top side of the sub. Hopefully through a snorkel. The other tube is for sending air to the ballast tank. Where do I plug in air from the pump (back of the S/D) to fill the ballast tank with air? I don't see a fitting. I saw David Merriman hold a fitting in his cabal reports for a seaview I think. I'm thinking that maybe I need another Caswell fitting for the S/D that goes on the ballast tank part of the S/D? I could not find one offered. Or do I make my own with my limited skills in making stuff.

    A picture if possible, anybody.

You can make your own discharge-to-ballast-tank fitting from a hunk of plastic, just drill half-way two 3/32" holes, 90-degrees apart, one hole is glued over another hole atop the ballast tank, the other hole (parallel to the cylinder) gets a 3/32" o.d. brass tube 'nipple' which makes up to the discharge side of the LPB.

You can make the discharge fitting a stand-alone item or you can combine it with the 'L' shaped nipple (serving as a foundation) that runs the induction hose from up into the sail, to aft to the motor bulkhead.

    Get creative.

    This ain't rocket-science you know!

      snort

That's what I needed. Picture. I saw that once before but could not find it again.

I don't see why Quikwood wouldn't work to make a fitting to hold the brass tubes.
