    What's a good source for a radio?

What's a good source for a multi channel surface radio set? Everything I see is either 2.4ghz or a two channel car radio. For the Revell GATO conversion it looks like you need at least four channel. Please correct me if I miscounted.

    Radios here at http://www.caswellplating.com/models/transmitter.html

You need a 6 ch radio - at least - for the Gato.
Stop messing about - just get a Sub-driver!

Go with the 8-channel transmitter for the GATO
      1. rudder
      2. bow planes
      3. throttle
      4. gas ballast sub-system
      5. *** ballast sub-system
      6. stern planes
      7. bow planes deploy/retract
      8. torpedo launcher

Thank you for your guildance on the GATO. The DVDs are awesome, but I have yet to watch the last two. Why do you have two channels for the ballast sub-system? And two more for fore and aft planes? One is for control and the other for a leveler? And what's a good source for an eight channel surface radio?
        Thanks,
        Jay

At this time we advocate the use of two, independent ballast sub-systems: One, the *** (Low Pressure Blower) is an air-pump that is normally used to take surface air, through an induction snorkel up in the sail, blowing it into the ballast tank, emptying it. The other ballast sub-system employs a charge of compressed liquefied gas to blow the ballast tank in an emergency, when you can't broach the sail to take in surface air. Both require a channel each. The gas sub-system will activate in a loss-of-signal condition and will get your boat off the bottom. The *** won't.

The bow plane and stern plane are on different channels as the two are not related (don't mechanically or electronically link them). Bow planes for fine depth control. The stern planes for gross depth-control, and fine angle keeping.

Get our WFLY 8-channel system, and the Sombra Labs SL-8 receiver.

Thanks David. I'll start saving my loose change.

Stay in touch, I want to see this boat of yours in the water eventually.
