    1/96 XXI rudder mechanism?

This is a trumpeter 1/144 XXI submarine from a Chinese model builder. The rudder section uses a spring to connect the servo and the rudder mechanism might be suitable for 1/96 XXI sub. Honestly speaking I don't like the idea of the servo being submerged in water, perhaps with a little modification, just like Mr. Merriman's Hunley submarine rudder mechanism.

That is a very interesting method. There are several concerns I would have with it. I don't like the servo out in the wet either. The Threaded rod coming out of the servo needs some support closer to where it transitions to the spring. That is a very tight bend on the spring, I think maybe a bevel gear would be better. Still, It's a clever idea.
