Snort Installation of hose into ballast tank and does it need a Check Valve?

When installing the hose into the ballast tank should the hose be installed at the top? How is it installed, drill a hole? Should the hose outlet be left at top of tank or inserted deeper into the tank, does it require a small one way check valve or will the air not flow back out through the pump? By the way.. Thanks to Caswell for such fine products and great service!!

    Hi Dan,

My experience has been that you can put the hose in the most convenient place. (On my KILO I have mine on the top of the ballast tank.) I do not use a check valve - the valves in the pump will suffice for that.

Come on, Dan! You're over-thinking this.

Kevin's right on the money. As always.

I simply ran the tube into one of the flood holes in the bottom of the tank and secured it to the acrylic between holes with a twist-tie. The snort system epitomizes the KISS principle to such a degree that it's easy to 'over-think' it !
