I just received my repaired Kilo Sub-driver from The Wiz. I sent it to him as I was having a problem with it. What takes me all day to fix, takes Mr. M a matter of minutes, and I get special treatment (thank goodness) from The Cave's Elves. I don't know how it happened, but the magic of Merriman's cave transformed the Seawolf Sub-driver I sent him into the Kilo Sub-driver I received. Very clever stuff!
I spend most of yesterday evening fiddling with charging transmitters and LiPos, and doing pre-mission checks.
So, I installed the Kilo Sub-driver, tweaked it a bit, and put it into the Erie Canal this morning. My FIRST patrol of my submarines in these busy waters. Things went pretty well except the rudder wouldn't go all the way to starboard, the boat seemed to be a bit 'nose heavy' when diving. This left the props spinning out of the water at times. And my fwd dive planes weren't operating. I'm sure I can fix these teething problems.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll run my D&E Skipjack. I really like this boat. 4 channel radio, no forward planes to mess with and turns on a dime.
After tomorrow, I think I'm done sailing boats, because I'll be away for 10 days and when I return, the canal level will be lowered for the winter. This is great if you happen to lose a boat. Anyhow, you'll see the change if you watch my web cam. It's on weatherbonk.com and at www.moonrakers.com/camera.php
