    Rubber Coated type-VII U-boat

I was just watching a TV show about U-480, a type VII, that had it's hull completely covered with a double-layer rubber coating, to make it a Stealth Sub. The inner layer had holes in it to trap air bubbles of the correct size to absorb Sonar signals.
Adhesive was perfected by time U-480 was done.
    They said it really worked.
    Very Interest!
I'd heard of materials being used on snorkel and periscopes to defeat radar but not the complete hull to defeat sonar.
    Also found this:
The Germans experimented with sound absorbing synthetic rubber to reduce the sonar reflection of U-boats. These were designated Alberich and Tarnmatte.
