Push plate for bow / sail planes - how do you do it?

    David,
any chance you could point us in the right direction and give us some schooling on assembling a a push plate and linkage for bow or sail mounted dive planes going from the rear end cap of the SD.

I for one need to overhaul my bow planes linkage on HMS Trenchant. The Flex cable I am using is not going back to centre well (your not surprised I'm sure). I recall somewhere you did an install of some bow planes and stated you used a "push plate" to do this.

    Thanks

In the 'old days' before use of magnetic connectors you would provide tension on the bow plane pushrod with a spring or rubber band. The bow plane pushrod would push against the WTC/SubDriver pushrod pusher plate.

    Wa-la!

Another option with apologies for anonomous credit:
somebody sent me the attached shot of his WTC bow plane "pushrod". I copied it for my 1/96 Seawolf. The control rod from my bow planes, constructed of 1/16" brass on both ends for the Kli-Cons and aluminum tube inbetween, runs the entire length in the upper hull to the aft WTC "pushrod." The magnets orient the planes.

        PS,

          Welcome aboard Kerry.

For those of you looking over our shoulder:

Kerry Addington is the genius behind those incredible annual SubRegatta DVD's. If you have not seen his work (the videos) you're missing out on not only excellent r/c submarine eye candy, but some of the best above and underwater photography in the field today. His DVD's are both entertaining and informative -- and, yes, I'm present in these videos talking it up during both regatta pool activities and while lecturing during the symposium portion of the event.

Kerry's one of us, guys. AND he's a professional videoographer.

Kerry: tell these bum's how to order your DVD's. And if you have a sample file of your video post the site here and let them enjoy the pretty pictures.

            .
I assume there are magnets glued into the ends of the aluminum tubing also, correct?

                Very kind words David.
Probably no suprise to many of you that when it comes to this hobby and David D. Merriman III in particular, I have received a hundred times what I have given.
Great to see this website running the reactor at 110.
As such, rather than waste space here, please send me a PM if you need any info on the DVD's.

Not really though. Anyway those rods arent aluminum. Unlike David I use NiCu rod for everything. It doesn't corrode and is much stronger then aluminum or brass.

sorry, I always want to give credit.
The aluminum tube I was referred to was regarding the linkage rod in the upper hull of my boat.
Thanks again for the pushrod idea!
