    WRAM SHOW Seacaucus NJ 2014

I took a trip down to this show mainly to meet the owner of Arkmodel/Hooben John Amman. Seems things are changing there and Mr Feng will be looking after R & D and production than the sales and marketing in future.

We are dealers of this product range and hope to dispel the previous problems associated with Arkmodel. If you have an axe to grind, please DO NOT DO IT HERE, rather you PM me personally and I will pass it on.

I had the opportunity to have a good look at some of the product produced by Arkmodel, namely the ships, and I must say, they are really very well done.

I went to this show a few years ago when it was in Chicago. I seem to recall I wrote an article somewhere suggesting these shops were a waste of time for most vendors. Well, this show was MUCH worse. About one third of the floor space was vacant, and the rest was pretty much 'coptors and planes.

I was interested in buying a quad 'coptor but none there. Chinese vendors selling direct, and American vendors selling Chinese products. There was Mikes Subworks selling Chinese toys, The Subcommittee with one of Merriman's old Sub-drivers on the table. Not sure what THAT was about, but it was really old. Loyalhanna, and Empire Modellers Club from NYC.

I met up with Solder-it, a supplier of specialist solders and repair products. We've been selling their stuff fore years.

It took about an hour to look over everything. Pretty drab. How anyone could make a profit from that is totally beyond me.

These shows are D E A D! The end of another era! The Internet wins!

Did you happen to pass by the IMEX section? From the photo I saw on RCU's tank forum, it appears they unloaded a 40' container of boats, tanks, planes, helix & quads
for the show. They're one to watch, at least when it comes to 1:16 RC tanks, after they opened a small workshop down from me in Ningbo.

Mike, did you happen to ask when Ark/Hooben/Twin Horse be releasing their new 1:16 AFV models onto the market?

As many in the RC tank community already know, Hooben was poised to release a Maus and E100 a few years ago - they showed them at the Nürnberg Toy Fair - then for whatever reason pulled them & decided to go with modern subjects M1A1 & Leopard which were slated for late 2013 released followed by an Israeli Merkava. Any of these would be good items for your online shop, especially if they'd actually release either of the first two WW2 German subjects that got everyone excited.
