I've been working to produce masters for the little Revell SKIPJACK kit Mike's added to his catalog -- the objective is, of course, to convert this plastic model kit from a static display piece into a practical r/c submarine model.
Most of the kit is accurate, except for the stern control surfaces, shape of the stern and the bow being a bit too blunt.
The work involves making a replacement stern section that will have practical rudders and stern planes.
Working off the Deep Sea Designs planes of the SKIPJACK, reduced to the size of the kit, which has a 13" length, I first made a set of Renshape control surface and horizontal stabilizers. From those I would make a rubber tool and then cast the required number of masters needed to make up the replacement stern and appendages.
