Revell germany supplies 2 type ix submarine models

    They're here! The Revell IX. WOW! I really mean W O W!!!!!!!!!

And I am going to dangle yet another carrot in front of HWSNBN!

But first, before I mail these to him, I need the Tracking Number for Slats order!

Dan Pastenok, the product development officer at Revel, has even had the two models done in different colors, so we can easily identify the parts in the box. Dan even gave us permission to take parts and copy them for things like Dive Planes & Rudder.

Michael Bloss of WodelWert, the German Magazine, is going to do an article on this, showing D&E Fittings Kits, Sub-driver installed.

The Skipjack has already been done, and it will be featured in the next edition of The Sub-driver Gazette, which I will publish in a couple of weeks.

I've been rather busy lately, getting our other business running, the www.mud-skipper.com site. Our latest product is a straight outboard kit without the engine. Why no engine? It by-passes all the EPA BS and keeps the prices down. I mean $650 for a 6hp outboard with a Briggs Engine? That's a huge cost saving.

No on both counts, sorry. I'm not going to stock these models, it's aggravating to deal with the distributors, simply because they don't realise we're a niche market and expect us to buy a truckload at a time. AND - I am tired of the price wars that go on. There's always some idiot on Ebay who wants to cut the price by 10 cents.

By 'They're Here' I meant my two samples are here.

I'd love to build one, but HWSNBN does it for me. (Eat your hearts out folks!) I have plenty of other projects to keep me out of mischief!

I used a 20" piece of Lexan with the tapered Motor bulkhead at that fits in a treat. Hardly any effort to slip the unit into the hull.

Here's the tapered motor bulkhead I think will suit this model.

I suspect we'll have a sub-driver within a couple of weeks, and because Revell said we could copy the control surfaces, then this should be easy for HWSNBN -BUT leave him alone, no more ideas, requests, etc. He needs to focus! (Gawd! it's like dealing with a five year old who loved cookies!)

Well, I think that the Type-9, at this scale, will have substantially less above waterline displacement than the GATO. That means a shorter ballast tank. If so, We can get the forward and after bulkheads away from the tight tapers at each end of this beast, and it will fit. But, if it turns out I need all that ballast tank to operate this model at the correct waterline, then I can adapt a tapered 'motor cup' to accommodate a single 380 motor working a gear-splitter. Won't know which way to take things till I have the kits in hand.

          THANK YOU, REVELL OF GERMANY!

I agree, a Type-21 to 1/72 would be a great kit. I must assume that it is at the top of Revell of Germany's list of things-to-do.

While we are wishing upon a star, 1/72 is kinda small. How about 1/60? And while were at it how about the Wilhelm Bauer version of the type 21 to boot? Just wishing.

According to my calculations(lol) the Type 21 was 251'8" Long. At 1/72 that works out to be 41" long(kinda small) At 1/60 it would be 50"(a little better). But, at 1/48 were at 63". "NOW THATS WHAT IM TALKIN BOUT"

What we are talking about is a dumb-ass plastic model kit for the masses ... not a purpose produced product for a very, very small market of r/c submarine nuts as our portion of the customer pie, with this type plastic model kit, is the smallest of slivers. Ain't no way Revell of Germany or Moebius (and the now defunct Lindberg ... I say defunct because the product development team that pushed the 1/72 Japanese sub kits has been shown the door, and for good reason) are going to depart from the established 1/72 scale for the 'larger' sized plastic model submarines.

The Welhelm Bauer is a *******-stepchild -- the museum boat is not terribly reflective of the front-line 21's or even the post-war 'experimental' submarine. Dumb choice to present to the general public. What the hell's wrong with you!!!????......
