So what happened to rc-subs.com and their HMS Astute model

Just curious, but I would have thought we would have seen some photos of the kit, or at least a working model, by now.
    Has anyone received any news?

Well I was assured on their Facebook page that photos would be up on 29 January. That post has disappeared.

This is the latest announcement on their Facebook page:

Rc Subs is on Facebook. Join Facebook to connect with Rc Subs and others you may know. Facebook gives people the power to share and makes the world more open and connected.

      "RC-Subs 2 hours ago
Our model has shown great interest from around the world including the MOD and the Navy. After talking to the the MOD and the Navy it had been decided that a few minor changes need to be made to our model and from then on our model will be sold under licence with the MOD and the Navy carrying the Navy Logo on all packaging and advertising.

We are sorry for the delay and can assure you the changes will be made and your model will be sent within 14 days."

presumably from that statement, this announcement was to those that might have bought one, or won one through their contest and are wondering where their models are at???

Its breathtaking that a product that was announced with such Fanfare is invisible to the market it's pitched at.
I went to a Mercedes Benz promo last year for their new C Class Coupe.. as you'd expect the car was there for all to see.

My personal favourite quote from their Facebook page is this entry:
      "RC-Subs 20 January
We wish to thank your kind invitations from The United States, Belgium and France we would love to accept and update our followers accordingly. We have considered taking our tours to other country's and we welcome further invitations from other followers. But please ensure you have a pool large enough for our demonstration, we hate to disappoint thank you Lion for your kind invitation however the measurements you gave of your pool is not big enough if you find alternative venue we will be happy to talk further."

Joel's boat will be unquestionably bespoke, accurate, and stunning, and well worth the cash and wait.

He's saying that the MOD and The Royal Navy are endorsing his product? I really think this man is on something. The real question is, weed or magic mushrooms?

Pot doesn't make one sound that self-important with delusions of grandeur. Sounds more like meth to me & of course it could also be crack

Crack cocaine use can result in a period of full-blown paranoid psychosis, in which the user loses touch with reality and experiences auditory hallucinations.
Does anyone know if he's these MOD & RN endorsements can be attributed to phone calls?

MOD probably means 'My Old Dear', and RN Right Nutters.

Look this outfit are on the fiddle, it was obvious from the outset. I was waiting for the next round of excuses, and sure enough there they are, with another 'two weeks' away deadline. That will get strung out to a month or so, then they'll be some other reason why they can't supply photos or deliver the goods.

I have asked again at Facebook, and that was promptly deleted!

Par for the course. The longer they can string it out, the more difficult it becomes for anyone that has sent money to retrieve it. With Paypal and credit cards you're pretty well protected against this kind of fraud, but after a certain amount of time, it becomes more difficult to get your money back.

Their Facebook posting for Feb 21 is interesting
Demonstrating boat to Royal Navy, seeking their approval.
Re tooling their boat and having it in the water in a week.
Yet we still can't see it.

Why don't they simply post some pictures of the model or the molds as is. It would dispel all the many rumors floating around on all the forums they've posted on. It also seems extremely odd that an establishment like Her Majesties Royal Navy would issue a 'licence'. What sort of licence? Is it 'By Appointment to Her Majesty, Model Submarine Supplier'? And why would The Ministry of Defence be interested in promoting a product?

I think it is truly dead now. The page did not come up today. I did not think it was dead as long as they were promoting vaporware and potentially making sales on non-existing product.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

He's wiped out the Facebook page, and just look at his web page

It's all been deleted and he's 'under construction'.

We'll never know for sure, but I think we -- the Community, a world-wide group now -- may have saved some people from being ripped off. Much like Chuck did reporting early about that awful Lindberg Japanese sub kit. If you know the subject and find a problem, get the word out, as long as its the truth, no matter who it hurts. Good job, guys.
