Came across this pic the other day. Its small and fuzzy but I tried to clean it up as much as I could. Does this look familiar to any of you career sub guys?

That would be the later version of the BQS-15A, the upper 8 sections are the Massa EC-20 receive modules and the cylinder is the active portion. This was a large improvement over the previous array.
Prior to that the BQS-15 CTFM section had a flat faced trainable (up-down & left-right) array that was prone to flooding in the train drive motor sections, also sometimes noisey, we called it the nodding idiot.

So the one pictured was an early "phased array type"?

No, the one pictured is the most recent array being used which also required a lot of mods to the beam forming system.

That's possible Mark, just keep an eye open for black SUV's and quiet black helo's.

Actually same products info available + more at: www.massa.com/reports also some good stuff on all the goodies being stuffed into the bow dome on the BLOCK III Virginia class in the report.

Hmmm..that link konked out (the Men In Black have found it!!!)

I remain fascinated by the USS Triton (SSRN 586), and one of its many peculiarities was its ginormous radar -- it was a one-of-a-kind radar-picket nuke, as well as the star of the 1st submerged circumnavigation with Capt. Ed Beach in command:
