    another dumb question from the newbie lipogard and adf2

    so on page or 5 of my build log dave put in a block diagram of the componants i have the regular failsafe not pictured.i have the lipogard and the adf2. i get that the out put of the adf goes to the stern planes. but both the the lipogard and the adf2 instructions say the hook up to the ballest servo. do i need a y harrness to make that so.daves diagram says lipogard then mtronics failsafe to ballest servo ... the angle driver is an older one im guessing so that is why it shows only to the stern planes???????help??????newbie overbord.also would these be ok mounting points?.Click image for larger version

    That diagram is a block type that shows device interaction as far as the connections are concerned. For the sake of clarity I separated the fail-safe and angle-keeper portions into discrete units, where in actuality, with the ADF (and ADF2) the two functions are on the same device.

    from the receiver: Ch-4 to the Lipo-Guard; Lipo-Guard to the fail-safe side of the ADF; from the ADF fail-safe side (through a Y type lead) to both the LPB MPC and ballast sub-system servo. Or, you can control the MPC through a different receiver channel, in which case you don't need the Y type lead

    From the receiver: Ch-6 to the ADF angle-keeper side; from the ADF angle-keeper side to the stern plane servo.

    Don't make me come over there!!

      I couldn't get the attachements to come up any larger, but if you click on them they'll open up to something that's readable.

        Kevin,

        That's beautiful. May I use your illustrations in my future literature? If so, would you e-mail the files please.

        This clears a lot up.

        A further variant is to split the output from the ADF fail-safe to the ballast sub-system servo and MPC -- that way, the LPB will run if signal is lost (the SAS will pump air from within the SD to the ballast tank, so we want to run the pump if no back-up gas source is used to empty the tank).

        As usual with you, Andy, and a few other clear-thinkers, this is good, solid stuff with no ambiguity at all.

          now 1 last question do the servo leds mirror the output leds from the adf2 example

          w = white
          r= red
          s=black

          servos from the sd are
          brown=neg

          red=b+

          ornge= signal

          so this is the correct way the leds go on? or do i have it backwards?

            Affirmative. Unfortunately each of the major manufacturers uses different colours. Here's how some of the more common brand names cross:

            Mfr: ....Futaba...JR......HiTec....Airtronics
            Power: ..Red......Red.....Red......Red
            Return: .Black....Brown...Black....Black
            Signal: .White....Orange..Yellow...Blue

            Sorry for all the extra periods between the table entries above, when I use spaces the BB software chops them out and then the table doesn't line up correctly!
