An Interesting What-If Scenario

As long as we have a President who romances the Welfare vote (looting the Treasury in the process) instead of doing his job (National security), the United States will continue its slide towards national impotence.
The cure is simply to deny the vote to anyone who has not successfully completed military service. Also, only veterns can run for office (such legislators are less inclinded to toss young soldiers into meat-grinders without sound reasons).
Citizenship should not be a birth-right; it should be earned. Credit goes to Robert Heinlein for this near perfect government model.

Its a sad state of affairs currently globally, it really is. Balance needs to be maintained in the world. David maybe right regarding internal politics but I depend on the US for international stability and I am a Kiwi in the South Pacific????? I would regroup and build up again if I was the US. Not be so reliant on the sandpits of the world with the blackstuff underneath them, is another. We have to be prepared, countries need to be ready.
Ok I am going back to dremmeling holes this is depressing. lolComment

Once American cities start disappearing under Iranian mushroom clouds ... only then, will my nation wake up. We should start loosing the first of them within one, maybe two years.
If you can smuggle drugs into this country, you can smuggle bomb sub-assemblies as well. I assume all but the fissionables are on site by now. Gun type bombs are easy things to make work.

i don't think that Japan needs that much outside support. Despite being a defence based force, they have a lot, i mean A LOT of high tech weapons. Chinese forces would be severely mauled. China knows this and won't go against them. Also need to remember that the Chinese don't think about this year, or next year, they plan for decades. They will posture a bit , and plan for futureNext time someone points out it takes 42 muscles to frown, point out it will only take 4 muscles to b1tch slap them if they tell you how mnay muscles you need to smile:popComment

Albion, you hit it dead on as I expected someone with experience dealing with China.
There's certainly no need to turn this into some pseudo internal American political debate - we all know why we're in the position we're in now & it certainly can't be all laid at the foot of the current POTUS. Just another reason why I fear the neocons getting back in power since they are the ones who led us down the path we're on.Last edited by herrmill; 08-21-2012, 10:19 PM.Comment

Japans defence force spends more with Britain on high tech weapons per year, than Britain spend them self, plus what they spend with others on new toys!
That's some serious sh1t, and in today's world i would pit smaller more technological force against cannon fodder. i'm not saying China doesn't have their own Tech, but in a war that neither can afford to lose its simply not worth the risk of getting a bloody noseNext time someone points out it takes 42 muscles to frown, point out it will only take 4 muscles to b1tch slap them if they tell you how mnay muscles you need to smile:popComment

hmmmm I read all that in the article Hermill, as did Albion no doubt!
How does 1 billion+ Chinese lose against 127 million Japanese? Here's a scary strategy to think about... sink a nuke off Japan coast approximately where the earthquake was and set it off.
Country sinks into sea with humongus Tsunami and internal mayhem and disruption. Job done and now prove which country did it? :O
It gets worse as where do you think the world's best computor hacker's are at this point?Last edited by Snipah; 08-21-2012, 10:24 PM.Comment

The real players are not the ones with borders.
The great usurpers of civilization will be nuke equipped stone-age religious zealots.

Well here's the fallout over the weekend from the organized Anti-Japan protests gone awry. Here where I live, the crowd was peaceful & under the watchful eye of the police but in some other cities... not so. Gotta love the photo of the young lady crying after discovering that her shiny new Nissan sedan was trashed by her fellow protesters on the march.
Anti-Japanese protests take place in cities across China after Japanese nationalists raised their country's flag on disputed islands.

100 guys with AK47 vs 10 guys with Uzis , who wins?
The 100 guys with the AK's right, but the Uzi boys will inflict a lot of damage.
And then how does the 100 AK guy look when the guy across the pond with 100 more machine guns turns up. He still looks like a loser, and China never wants to be seen to loseNext time someone points out it takes 42 muscles to frown, point out it will only take 4 muscles to b1tch slap them if they tell you how mnay muscles you need to smile:popComment
