    New camera for techy geeks!

At $1.99 someone must be able to incorporate this into a model???

Tiny camera made for cell phones is only 0.3" in diameter and 0.23" thick. It has a 1.8" long flexible circuit board terminating into 20 gold plated pads. The overall width of the termination point is 10mm x 0.2mm thick (we don't have a mating connector). These came to us nested in their original trays, however we have no information on hookups, resolution, operating voltage, or any other data for these cameras so we are blowing them out "AS IS" at an extremely low price. Please no returns. Fascinating item to experiment with and study. Numbers marked on circuit board are Flex-040601, 7289123N09. G17609

The circuit-board -- any electronics on it or is it just a wire-run down to the gold-plated contact tabs? If so, maybe we can un-bolt the camera body from the CB, clamp on a ribon conductor and output the camera to power and a circuit to adapt it to transmit and/or record sub-components.

    Kevin and Andy ... Help!

These are just the camera modules, you will still need the a processor to deal with the signals, then something to talk to the memory card, code to go with it etc.

Lots and lots of work. 808 cams come with one of these modules inside plus all the electronics and a battery for about $13 (SD model).

Thanks, Andy. That puts that idea to bed.

If it's extending an exisiting camera, as opposed to growing your own, then it might be possible. I'm not sure if these camera modules, which are basically designed for mobile phones, adhere to a pinout standard, or if they all go their own way. On a lot of cameras the module tag is soldered directly onto the board. The pin spacing is very fine, so a not a job for the feint hearted. Some cameras have a removeavle socket for the camera module (e.g. Version 16 808 camera) which makes life easier with swapping out cameras.
