    NAVY Cancels USS BOISE Overhaul

The Navy canceled a USS Boise overhaul approved under Biden, citing soaring costs and shifting resources to newer submarines.
Of the approximately 40,000 men who served on U-boats in WWII, it is estimated that around 28,000 to 30,000 lost their lives.

On the one hand, it's a real shame this boat is going to end up scrapped due to what seems to my uneducated self as a colossal level of mismanagement and a crushing lack of necessary facilities and resources to maintain the fleet.

On the other, this decision really should have been made years earlier. The Virginias seem to be coming along reasonably, again to my uneducated self, and while there's still plenty of life left in the Los Angeles class, this boat's fate was sealed a long time ago.
