I was at the Milwaukee Air and Water show yesterday - one of the best airshows I have been to - we had beach front reserved seats. While we were there, we stopped by the various services booths. They are already ramping up 3rd crew support for the building USS Wisconsin Columbia class boat. I had not realized they were X-tailss, and I have been very impressed wit the X-Tail arrangement on my 212 build.
I thought it would be a good locally relevant boat to build, and print files are out there. I have started to get a lot of questions on my subs when running at the local beach swim area.
While my 212 does not suffer from having fixed sail lanes, given the length of the columbias, I suspected having functioning sail planes would help. I am also giving thought to the prop shroud articulation.

I've assembled and operated both OHIO and VANGUARD (1/96 and 1/100 scale) boomer's and they both had a very tight turning radius submerged, with scale size and located stern feathers. In my opinion there is little need for 'heroic' measures to increase the yaw rate on these boats.
