You just can't make this stuff up! seeing is believing. Did you know that Dave was once a Navy Seal, so that was no big deal in the scheme of things. Btw, I have a bridge for sale if anyone is interested. No really, that's the sort of thing real men are made of.
Me thinks.Comment

I was a 2nd class (air only), salvage/ships husbandry Diver. Not a combat swimmer. We recovered and fixed things. SEAL's kill and break things.
Two different job-codes, my friend.
The shot below is me dressed out in MK5 gear aboard the USS RECOVERY (ARS-43).

Wow I bet that gear weighed heaps.
Did you also use scuba gear? And I was wondering when those old suits where retired in favour of scuba?

Think of that before your buy "cheap" pirated goods or download others work protected by copyright. Theft is theft.

The MK5 dress was replaced by the lighter weight, surface supplied MK12 in the mid-80's. We used all sorts of surface supplied gear in my time: Jack Brown, Kirby-Morgan, MK1, MK5, and the Ultra-Light.
Scuba's fine but no communications, and entrapment is an issue with that gear. We favored SCUBA for the TAD jobs, but would use surface supplied rigs whenever possible.
Yeah, the MK5 was a ***** till you hit the water, then it was a pure joy, as you had the ability to inflate the dress to compensate for the weight -- you could walk or swim the rig if you wanted to. It was the Tender's who had the tough job with this dress. Being dry during the dive is a good thing!

I see you simply haven't lost your love of water, Dave. In any case say what you will Mike, David looks pretty darn spiffy in that dive suit, he's got that mountain man look, especially with that beard. Very impressive! and no doubt a very dangerous job.
Secondly I don't know of too many who would brave those weather conditions to help someone else find their sub.
Your going to Heaven, Dave. Well MAYBE! Just stop hanging around with Mike, he's a bad influence. Ha!, but alright in my book.Last edited by Anuci; 10-12-2011, 08:49 AM.Comment
