    Mystery sub resolved

A while back I posted this picture of what was reffered to as a Jap sub, asking if anyone could ID it. The responces came back: Type VII or Japanese RO type. Yesterday I put a face to the name....er......a name to the face. Because of intra-service rivalrys, the Japanese Army designed and built their own submarines. The one pictured is a captured YU-3 Transport sub. Thats why it doesnt have any torp tubes. The Yu series went from Yu-1 thru Yu-12. Then it picked up again and went from Yu-1001 to 1014. Then Yu-2001. The YU indicating yuso-tei or transport class..
