My name is Chris, and I'm located for the time being in Westchester County NY. I ran across this forum while researching RC Subs. I have a little bit of experience in RC, mainly cars and surface boats. Never with subs but I'd like to change that, now that I have the means to afford it. Seems like there is a wealth of information to be gained here.
Anyway, the purpose of this post is because during my research on R/C subs I came across the Thunder Tiger Neptune and I'm curious if anyone has been able to customize/convert a Tiger Thunder Neptune sub into an ROV of sorts. From what I've seen and read this sub is very well built and its made to accommodate a couple of cameras, lights and other accessories. Due to the fact that video signals don't transmit that well thru the water, I was thinking that perhaps a small diameter tether (fiber optic) might be the answer. Now I'm not well versed in electronics and model building so perhaps what I'm proposing is impossible but this is why Ive decided to seek help with people who have the knowledge and experience that I lack. Have you guys done anything like this in the past or know of anyone who has?
I would be interested in purchasing something like this whether it be a customized Neptune or another platform that may be more suitable for this.
So, in short, I'm wondering if it is possible to tether a Neptune sub in order to relay control commands and receive live video feeds, sorta like the FPV plane guys do complete with basic telemetry/OSD.
Thanks all for your help,
Chris
