    Caswell Solenoid

Just curious, does anyone know of a reason that I couldnt use one of the Caswell 6 volt solenoids inside of a ballast tank? I mean to say that it would be wetted...

Not sure if this is much different than a gel-cell being outside of the pressure hull, and its connectors being in the water. The magnetic field that causes the solenoid to operate should still be there to open the valve right...

    Thanks-

A significant portion of the solenoid core is Iron. Get that wet and the thing will rot to death.

    David,
