Inside of the Sail. Notice what looks like a joystick in the center and perhaps two gauges.

Under construction. Notice the two "Delta" pressure hulls down below and the smaller one above.

Yes, I noticed that. The color picture shows a beaver tail that comes to a sharp chisel edge while one of the black and white shots show a more blunt rendering.

You never get to see the crest until they are out of the water.

Not quite as simple as that when it comes to the Typhoons. The First in class TK-208 was built with the the 'beaver tail', Whilst the latter TK202 had the short tail. And the last TK-20 had the 'beaver tail again'.
Some hulls had stabilizers, some did not.
Some had the 2 flank towed array sonars, some didn't.
The missle silos were located differently (I couldnt believe how the Russians managed this either - did someone loose the plans? - missile doors are located differently in different hulls)
Some had rececess safty rail some didn't - TK208 had them retro fitted at last refit, Tk -17 had them from the start whilst the last in class TK-20 did not.
Tk-17 had a different sail design.
What eveyone thought were retractable cold water intakes -Nope. Not retactable, not intakes and not all the hulls had them (hence people though they were retractable because they were there in some pictures and not in others!)
And the list goes on. did you know that only 2 of the hulls were the same length, and lets not get into the different sized prop shrouds.
Oh and the Typhoon was launched with a 5 bladed prop
