Several questions about the revell Type 7

    Hi All
I am about to embarke on the great crusade and finally start me Type 7. I already have the fittings kit and weights and ballast kit. Will soon be getting the wtc. After putting this project on hold again and again and after drilling out all the flood holes I am finally ready to start so I have several questions. Here goes: Will I need a five channal radio to run it with the snort system? If so which radio system and which snort system? Several years ago I bought a beautiful brass etched deck and other items for this boat. If the kit deck is used does it trap alot of air under it when diving? I really cannot see myself drilling out all those deck holes. I may try to use the brass deck by strengthening it around all the edges and at certain pints along the length but I am worried that it my not stand up to the handling needed to place wtc in the hull as well aaaaaas the magnet system to hold it down. Perhaps drilling out some strategic holes in kit deck works to release trapped air? Also I remeoved the long drain and flood areas on top of saddle tanks and under the mid deck. I was over eager I guess. Will this present a problem with deck mounting system? Anyway thanks to all in advance and I am sure I will be up with more questions as the build progresses. I have also been looking at Dave's cabal reports
    Thanks

Here's a shot on the radios...

As to a receiver, the Sombra SL-8 has a synthesized tuner-no crystals-and operates on the correct 75MHz frequency with 8 channels.

The transmitters most discussed here are the WFlys. The 6 or 8 will both work well. The 6 channel version is more manual, while the 8 channel has a menu driven interface. Their price points and convenience vary--so you have to decide which suits you.

The small snort goes with the Type VII SubDriver.

Since you own both the brass and the plastic, why don't you try to keep both options open and see what works best? Few people seem to have used the metal or wood decks. Perhaps this is because the stock plastic is, even with its imperfections, good enough. Maybe it's because nobody has put any serious effort into the metal decks. In any event, if you try, let us know.
