Yes Von Hilde, this U Boat picture post has a high readership. COOL! I love it when a plan comes together. This next batch is primarily from the early Uboats of WW2.

Wonderful selection today. Mistery solved about the antenna. U 9 has the ADF loop as well as the odd jumper going to what appears to be an antenna on the tower fairing. Most likely a VHF for the radio. U 3 has a better angle of it. I certainly will put one on my bigType II project. Great picture of Uncle Carl departing U38. First appears that he is actually handeling the gangway, but thats not the case. He is climbing up a small step ladder, one hand on the plank and one hand on the wintergarden rail. I can immagine how unsteady that would have been, even in the relitivly calm water, especially if the gangway was from one ship to another with both vessels rocking.Leave a comment:

I will search and see what I can find on that. In the meantime perhaps these will help.

U 2 surfacing has a unique antenna between the jumper and the tower on the step. Some of the early II As had the RDF loop there before they started putting them inside the bridge in a fareing. The pictures of U1 and U 3 that Ive seen are that way, so this must have been an experiment. The only picture I have of U2, the boat is covered in ice and you cant see any details.Leave a comment:
