    Hey! ... Gantu!!!!!

    Gantu:

Your recent ALFA shot at SubCommittee was stunning surprise to me.

I see that the stern planes are not working together in this dry-dock shot.

Either the ALFA is equipped with two rams, one for each of the two stern planes, or one or more of the stern plane operating shafts has been disconnected from a common yoke.

    Which is it?

I would think that a high-torque propulsion system, as employed by the fast ALFA, would have used differential operation of the stern planes to counter propeller torque and kill some of the foil-roll such a submarine would encounter during a high-speed submerged turn.

    Your thoughts?

You have a killer catalog of very, very interesting shots. Do you have any dope on the interior of the FOXTROT bridge and sail as well?

    David,

    1) I have sent an email to Gantu alerting him to your question - hope he replies.

    2) Go to:

There you will find lots of excellent pictures of Russian subs. Look for project #641 - click that link. About 2/3rds of the way down you'll find some pix of the interior of the sail.

    Hope this helps,

Stop digging. I have enough to finish my work on the 1/72 FOXTROT sail, Gantu. Hell, I've over-detailed the fittings kit as it is. Thanks for the effort though. Much appreciated.

Your postings keep amazing me. You have the neatest collection of reference material.

roedj, What a great website. Ive been there before but the last time I went it was formated differently and not so many good pictures. Its now much improved. Also before many of the pictures you could only get by taking print screens.
