I'm a god-damned Craftsman!

I'm 68, and tired. Time to step aside and leave some oxygen for those in my wake. We elites burn bright, but we burn half as long. And decorum demands that we leave the stage once we've plateaued.

I'm not unique: the mediums through which I displayed my vast array of skills are now yellowed pages, forgotten lectures, deleted internet articles, and grainy YouTube shorts -- the greats before me too are fading into obscurity themselves. Memories are short (and selective) and records crumble. Its normal. in time our work will be all but forgotten. We advanced the state-of-the-craft; we did our bit. Others will slip on the yoke and continue the task.

And that's the way it should be.

In time we move over and make room for those following our footsteps. I've had my moment in the sun. Enough legacy building -- time to play.
