    Subtech Albacore Waterproof Gasket.

Can any member advise how I can manufacture a new gasket for Albacore water tight cylinder please.

    Thanks Gra

If I remember right that gasket was made from square section, closed-cell, plastic foam of some type. You'll have to find some length of cord and cut it to the correct size to fit. Rotsa Ruck with that!

(One reason I dubbed those things, 'sink-o-matic').

Gra, you said cylinder? Or is it a box?
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Can't you use a very soft o-ring like the ENGEL subs?

Rubber gasket made of extra soft NBR50

O.K. I just wanted to make sure. There is also http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-gaskets/=12hskok
They also have sheet rubber. I used that to create a gasket for a camera housing I made.
            Peace,

Is there anything left of the old one? Perhaps it can still be used. When I had mine ,and had leaks, I coated the gasket with a generous amount of silicone grease. It helped a great deal. I also drilled and installed more hold-down thumb screws around and thru the outside flange. The Subtek setup whetted my appetite for submarines, and then I moved on to the Subdriver setup. MUCH BETTER!

Hi greenman 407 the gasket is complete just some areas seem to let a small amount of water in.
I shall take your comments on board. This was my first sub and I thought I would get it active again.
I have since moved on to subdriver type cylinders for my other two subs.
