LOL. Yes, 'hot' is not the word I would use to describe that batteries chemistry. 30 lashes for Mr. Caswells ad-writer!

Hi Von,
If they are overcharged they can puff
When you leave them fully charged they can puff
When you drawn to low they can puff
Get a good charger
Balance them every time you charge them
Charge them with a charge current NOT more than 1C
When you not using them charge them at 50% C (If you have a good charger there is a program for that)
They don’t like storage at 100% charged, they will get damaged.
Only when you’re going to use it charge it to 100%
Good chargers will turn off when the LIPO is fully charged.
I follow this and I never had any trouble with LIPO’s and I have them for years now.

I agree 100% with Bart's post above, but would like to draw some additional attention to one point because I think its importance is often overlooked:
I've also been using LiPos for many years, and for the first few seasons I always stored them fully charged. (Unlike NiCd/NiMhs, LiPos have low self-discharge so you may as well store them full, right? Wrong!) Switching to storing batts at 3.8V/cell (~50% of full capacity) between runs and over the winter has made a huge difference for me in terms of useable battery life. If your charger doesn't have a "storage charge" programme option, I highly recommend getting a dischager/balancer that will do it. Your batteries will thank you!
