What is the matter with all you guys? I just see asterisks, no offense to me! :-)
Here is how I read David's response, "I'm most alarmed at this creative language in my amazing forum! What the world is wrong with you geniuses, anyway. What the dialogue!"Last edited by trout; 08-25-2015, 06:52 PM.Leave a comment:

Lighten up Big Fella.... If you know anything about Australians, you'll know that we use "*******" as a term of endearment. As in "Old *******" , "Lucky *******", "Silly *******" and of course "Cheap *******". And incidently, I do know something about your personal circumstances because you told me about them when I gave you a submarine last year. No personal offence meant, you Old *******!
I'm most alarmed at this **** language in my ****ing forum! What the **** is wrong with you *******s, anyway. What the ****!

Scott, I hate to drag this out any more than necessary It was sure as hell more than just "modify, fill, sand, tweek, re-make, re-jig and re-surface ". I would challenge most builders (other than Mr. Merriman) to be able to complete this kit.
This was not a rant for my sake, it was a cautionary tale to help others...believe it or not, some people do things in an attempt to help others.
And altho Im not terribly over-sensitive, I do take offence at being labelled a cheap ****** Scott..... PERIOD!
You have absolutely NO idea of my financial restrictions that I and my family currently face, at all, so you can take your PERSONAL COMMENTS and cram 'em where the sun don't shine.
Respectfully yours,
Kim

way, back in the day, when we had just won the war with Japan, I bought a wind up metal toy of a Lockheed super constalation while I was living on Okinawa. When I wound it up the spring broke, and I tried to take it apart. Inside the painted tin was still a printed Budwiser can. My Dad, just said to me"You buy Japanese, you get Japanese" that phrase stuck with me forever. 60 years later, Daytona Beach, Last Resort Ole Skool bike show. I built a hot rod antique Harley. Some guy try's to outdo my burnout, with a replica Rev Tech, motor in a replica frame. Made in Taiwan and Korea. When the motor seized, and the torque of the spinning wheel cracked the frame at the transmission mounts. I quoted my dad but changed the country
I LOVE that! Perfect example, sir. You need to be our Chinese commerce representative!

Well, in my own defense, again it was not just the price (altho my situation demands it), it was the fact that RC Subworks has over 1000 positive feedback's, and only 1 or 2 negative comments...so I thought I was safe.
As well, I was still new to the forumn, and was not aware of the many pluses of buying from it, and Mr Merriman, with the quality that was offered, I simply assumed the units from Mr. Merriman, would be far more expensive than they are.
My rant was not meant to whine, it was meant to educate. The model was sent to Mr.Merriman to assess it only, not for him to build it for me.
I now have humbly learned my lesson, and I do have more than 1 sub that I am working on.
Here endeth my cautionary tale...take from it what you can.Leave a comment:

There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey.Leave a comment:

I doubt that anyone at RC Sub Workshop will ever reply to this forum in regards to this, simply because they don't give a ****. If they don't reply to direct emails, why should they respond here.
You are right, someone at sometime did go top great pains to make a really nice Akula, nice scale, nice profile, and a truly complete kit of running parts. Unfortunately, as all of us here know, the devil is in the details...that Mr. Merriman excels at. Watching quality of sub-contractors. documentation, follow-up to questions etc etc are all as important as the sculpting of the ship, and if all you are in it for is money, and English is your second language....you are doomed.
Kim. I have to tell you Buddy. If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. There is no end of cheap stuff in this world - if you want quality, then you have to pay for it. That said, the stuff that RC Sub-Works produce is bloody good for the price. Sure, you have to modify, fill, sand, tweek, re-make, re-jig and re-surface - but its cheap, you cheap *******! Look at this:
This is a Soryu in 1/96 sacle. Its rough but it has all the bits, a set of rudamentory plans, appendages without bubbles, a brass frett, brass propellor and its PRIMED! The hull halves don't fit exactly and the fin is a bit skew wiff but its all fixable with a minimum of time an effort. Its not an assembly kit so much as a starting place - you cheap *******! You can buy this for a few hundred buck. So stop whinging about RC Sub Works and go an make something for ****s sake!!!

So you're Hephaestus........he stands for Crippled (didnt do knee jobs those days) god of fire, metalworking, and crafts.
If his godliness will be so kind to keep his postings to the subject into one thread (saving your pennies) than us mortals will have an easier job following the all mighty Hephaestus and his magnificent realizations.
Just realized that if you are Hephaestus then Mr. Caswell must be Zeus King of the gods,
Maybe a I can get a BD (Buttshark Discount) now?
Grtz,
Bart
