Thanks Bob for the tips for avoiding the getting a post unapproved.
A couple of other ways that the flag may be triggered is if you take a while to write and modify the text in the forum editor before posting. Also I've found that if I try to post more than 5 relatively large photo's the post gets flagged.
Bob, thanks again for maintaining this forum & all the other hard work you do for the community. Much appreciated!

You are correct, Bob. I’m anal when it comes to a post that has a missing comma, or something to that effect, and then I’ll edit it, and then it’ll get flagged.Based on feedback from a couple of members, I think the issue is that we have a handful of perfectionists who post, then edit, then post, then edit, looking for the perfect post. ***** around with a post over and over will get you flagged. If you're one of those people, my advice would be to just pop open a notepad editor, type out your perfect post, and then cut and paste it into the forums.
Photos? Hell, yes. Post away. Just don't post, then delete, then edit then add then re-order. Make up your mind. Post and move on.
Yes, this is likely considered an antiquated platform and yes, I manage it alone. I make nothing off these forums. It's here for you people, provided free of charge with no obligation.Leave a comment:

I have a couple of questions that are a little off-topic, and I'd rather not start a new thread just for them.- When will I be able to upload a custom avatar?
- I noticed that the forum has post reactions. When will I be able to react to posts myself, and when will I be able to see the reactions on my own posts?

Well, for example, I didn't edit that post, but I still have a great deal of respect for your work, and it's always a pleasure to see what you create.Based on feedback from a couple of members, I think the issue is that we have a handful of perfectionists who post, then edit, then post, then edit, looking for the perfect post. ***** around with a post over and over will get you flagged. I'm already starting to get used to the forum-both how it's organized and the way people interact here. It's an incredible source of solutions, techniques, and ideas, even if you're only looking at the photos (provided you already know how to work with the materials).
There is one particularly respected member of the forum who regularly posts photos of his work. Honestly, forgive me for saying this, but even a complete beginner could understand how things should be done just by looking at those photos.
I'm glad to be here, and I have great respect for all the members. I spent a long time reading the forum before registering, and eventually decided to join.
You are all absolute giants when it comes to technical solutions and craftsmanship.

I have to insert my opinion (really do not have to, but want to) “I think the best solution is to use BB codes and embed photos from third-party sources in your posts, rather than uploading photos to the forum.” - CollectiveBorg. I cannot disagree more. Upload your photos. How many older posts have links to photos that no longer exist? It is very frustrating to me to find a site that potentially answers what you were looking for only to be useless because the photos are no longer available because the linked location was deleted. Post your photos and let your build be complete for future beginners or forgetful elders like myself.

Yes, I saw it, and even saw the unacknowledged button—disapproved. For me, the post was highlighted in red.
Now I can't see that long text post of yours. Unfortunately, I didn't take a screenshot.Leave a comment:

Hmmm……you can see my today’s post under 1/72 Virginia….. even though it is not approved??Leave a comment:

I don't think there's anything to worry about.
This forum is based on a rather archaic platform (I don't want to offend the owner or the respected authors), maintained by a single person.
I think the best solution is to use BB codes and embed photos from third-party sources in your posts, rather than uploading photos to the forum.
P.S. By the way, I see your post and I see the banner - not approved.Leave a comment:

I just posted a long winded post with no photos. it just got blocked. A previous post also got blocked and has never been unblocked. I must admit it does sort of discourage one from posting.Leave a comment:

Thanks for addressing this problem -- I'm probably the guy who gets that awful 'unapproved' stamp the most because of all the pictures I place into a post. Now that you've pulled some of the teeth out of this forum, let's see how it goes from here. Again, thanks.I don't know how or why, but some of you are really (really, really) good at getting legit posts flagged as spam. I think some of this has to do with photo uploads and multiple edits of a post. I took a look at the site settings and have turned off one of the more aggressive spam scanners that is installed.
Hopefully this will reduce or eliminate the false flags. The bad news is that it may also increase spam posts.
We'll give it a shot and see what happens. Let me know if you see anything wonky.
