    Robbe SeaWolf V2 Maiden Voyage

Robbe SeaWolf V2 patrols the frigid Canadian Waters. The first and Maiden Voyage, what a day, what a blast.
Well I got two runs with no water leaks.
Its a dream come true. It handles very well.
I love it. It needs more ballast and I am going to put in my new 6v sealed lead acid battery, that will give me another two pounds dead center. Should be perfect. Cheers

Water temp was about 38F. Lots of ice still around.

One must wait for the ice to leave, before setting sail up here in the great white north. Conan loved the whole day at the beach.

Well I have the modifications done. I got the 6v in and the wiring is tighter, with the rx now under the tray up in front of the servos instead of back by the motor on top of the tray. They say that the sealed lead acid batteries are good for a hour. That is going to be fun.

Back in the water tomorrow...two pounds heavier...pics to follow.
        Cheers

PS, brain injury was working fine, I forgot my rubber boots....DOOH!

This is the St. Lawrence River, Lake St. Lawrence, Ingleside Ontario, cold water, still ice in places.

I can stand at the end of this point and walk a high shoreline to the right. It was a good 2 hour run.

Boy! I forgot how cold the St Lawrence & Thousand Islands can be this time of year! Brrrrrrrrr!!!!!
May- September are about the only times I'd want to be standing out there!
You - and the dog- are brave fellows!
Stop messing about - just get a Sub-driver!

HI Mike, your store is only three hours from me....so I think your in good standing with NY State weather.
                    I'll drink to THAT!

Its not Florida, but hey what can a Canadian do>? Wait till the ice goes out then get them in....so I did and they run real cool with the cold water. No heating problems...none at all. Infact everything (motor, ESC) are both quite cool after a two hour run....how sweet is that>?

I ordered four more batteries for the sub.
I also made the modification of scribing and opening the front hull...a mistake from the original plans.
That needed to be done to make a proper replacement for closing the Seawolf. The one fatal flaw, was the thin thread they had setup to close the WTC. So I replaced the thin 2mm thread and tightening rod with a 5mm thread and a O ring with a wing nut. She is much more secure now. I really like this sub. It dives excellent, patrols a mean sea with no bobbing and is my first large sub

                      Cheers

I cannot get over how good I am at scribbing and cutting a hull apart.
My skills have grown a lot in three months. I remember being TERRIFIED of cutting into a model....now I am a surgeon. No mistakes, no dings, nicks, or F ups. I have the tools, the knowhow and the confidence to go miles and years into this journey. I hope to turn on a whole group of people with this hobby this weekend at the local RC Display. I have been asked to bring my wares and I have been busy making sure that they are complete, good looking and functional to a high degree.

I really hope to see some Caswell Merriman subs in my area in the not too distant future....selling on the road by the pound...
                        I'll drink to THAT!
